It is true that bra engineering, or brarchitecture, if you prefer, is complicated: The diameter of your underwire is too large if the underarm end is poking into your armpit. Look for bras where the straps are sewn closer together in the back. A better choice could be a bra with less cup coverage. The cup should encompass your breast and provide a smooth transition from bra to breast, with no skin squeezing out of the top.

Instead of buying a larger band size, I recommend trying bras that have a wider band in the back, or a longline bra which extends to part of the torso. If the straps, after being adjusted, are slipping down your shoulders it might mean that the under bust band is too small. Therefore try different bra styles to find your perfect bra fit. The band is too loose. If the band rides up at the back it is probably too big. If the band size was OK on your original bra, you need to go down one level in band size for every level you are increasing your cup size this is because band size is relative to cup size - read more in our Bra Sister Size Guide. Take a peek at the back to check whether it lies in a straight line parallel to the floor.
